Teddy Tells the Truth (2004)
Robotic toy, T-Shirt, Electronics, CD audio.

Teddy Tells the Truth is a installation about a defunct teaching toy which is no longer obligated by his employers/manufacturers to ‘entertain’ his masters. He tells about his life after being a popular toy, his bouts with drug abuse and how his caterpillar lover, Grubby succumbed to Aids in the early 90’s. He also recounts how children and he used to talk about things that ‘weren’t on the tape’ when the parents were away…

For this installation, the bear only is on display as the ambient noise level of many galleries is too loud to allow the clear projection of the stories from the toy’s internal speaker.
