2D/Print Print. Painting and Photography

My grandmother earned a BFA from Carnegie Mellon (1908), and my grandfather was part of the Art Students' League of NYC. My mother was a practicing artist working in oil, acrylic, inks and a number of other media. Therefore, my training in traditional media started quite young, and much work was created from a very young age, although I did not start exhibiting anything until 1988-9.

Although my first works were primarily in acrylics, in the late 80's I began translating some of the digital work I was doing into xerography. Digital print and color xerography followed in the early 90',s and I obtained my own large format pronter in 1997. Since then, much of my work has been created using this printer, although I have been reworking pieces in traditional media since about 1996.

Traditional methods are not absent from my practice, as in 2002 I have been working extensively with inks on fine paper as well as oils in creating derivative works from my digital images.

As is usually the case, the choice to use 2-dimensional media is not a choice of craft, but a choice of aesthetics or concept.
