Gridlite (2005-)

Laser-cut wood, Lucite, electronics
The Gridlite is a design piece inspired by the eero koivisto's Dual Table, this work incprporates a pattern based on a 2D badcode pattern generated from my essay, Grasping @ Bits. The white elements were excised, and LED's placed in cut holes behind the 'black pixels, attempting to create a tension between the metaphorical 1's and 0's in the grid os information.

The round hole was designed to make a formal break with Kovisto's design, and playfully alludes to a possible function as a terribly overstated coaster.
