Third
Generation

In October
of 1998, Rachel Schreiber and Andrea Slane (who had never met,
but had been communicating by e-mail) decided to work on a project
together in order to examine their (very different) relationships
to the historical event of the Holocaust. It was decided that
their photo albums could be the site for cross-examination,
and the two invited Jael Lehmann to add a third perspective.
In a triple-blind situation, the artists scanned images from
each album, (except for Jael, whose grandmother was buried with
her photo album) and sent them to one another. Each wrote about
one anothers', as well as their own album without reading the
others' comments. Beckham Dossett was then enlisted to assist
in the design of the site.
