& Second Life Based Real-Time Performance
Since 2003, I have been working with variousl FLUXUS-related artists like Larry Miller and Bibbe Hansen
to develop virtual-reality based versions of various performance scores that follow online reinterpretations
of the FLUXUS idea of the "Event-Score".
" Event scores, such as George Brecht's "Drip Music", are essentially performance art scripts
that are usually only a few lines long and consist of descriptions of actions
to be performed rather than dialogue. Fluxus artists differentiate event scores
from "happenings". Whereas happenings were sometimes complicated,
lengthy performances meant to blur the lines between performer and audience,
performance and reality, Fluxus performances were usually brief and simple."

SECRET MESSAGES
Microprocessor-Generated Video
For this body of work, I use low-tech means to visualize various forms of data as readouts or
black and white noise bitmaps
to illustrate the fact that we live in a world in which a universe of
information that courses through us in the form of radio waves, cell phone transmissions and
broadband connections. This is a manifest world of real information that exists in parallel with the physical.

Augmented Reality
Since 2011, I have been doing Augmented Reality interventions using cellphones to see invisible data ovelaid on
landscapes using location-based media through the use of cellphone apps like Layar.
Most of these involve
the overlay of sculptural texts and interventional sculpture in public spaces. They relate to messages of love
or to the remapping of the landscape as a
text, similar to Jeffrey Shaw's pice "Legible City" (1989) that
used a stationary bicycle to allow a visitor to navigate a virtual reality city of text. In my case, I insert
the sculptural text into the physical city/landscape.

Painting
For this body of work, I am using stencils and invisible fluorescent UV (Blacklight) paint
to inscribe messages
in public spaces.
While graffiti as such is illegal in most spaces, what about graffiti that is not perceptible
without special means, and is invisible to everyone execept people with those means?
We live in a world with hidden messages all around us; The Secret Message Society
merely makes this explicit.
